Industry Standards

Industry Standards are used around the world to normalize designs and maximize equipment interchangeability while increasing performance and economic efficiencies.  Sundyne designs equipment to meet or exceed these standards and often provides engineering expertise and advice to these various organizations.

Formerly known as the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, NACE International was established in 1943 as a professional organization for the corrosion control industry. NACE's main focus of activities includes cathodic protection, coatings for industry and material selection for specific chemical resistance. NACE also publishes standard practice, test method, and material requirements standards for use by industry and other Corrosion societies.

The family of standards for quality management systems as maintained by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Sundyne products and global manufacturing facilities are independently audited and certified to be in conformance with ISO 9001:2000 standards.

The main United States trade association for the oil and natural gas industry named the American Petroleum Institute (API). Sundyne pumps and compressors comply with API equipment operating standards.

A forum for the exchange if information for pump users worldwide. The Hydraulic Institute (HI) develops and delivers comprehensive industry standards.

Manages the creation and promulgation and use of thousands of norms and guidelines that directly impact businesses. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards are used for Sundyne sealless magnetic drive pumps.

The German national organization for standardization. The ISO body member Deutshes Institut fur Normung (DIN) standards are provided for Sundyne pump and compressor products.
Specifies the standards used for industrial activities in Japan. The Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) are utilized in Sundyne pumps and compressors for sale in Japan.
A professional body who sets codes and standards for mechanical devices. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) are utilized for designing Sundyne products.
BSI Standards is the United Kingdom's National Standards Body (NSB). It represents UK economic and social interests across all of the European and international standards organizations and through the development of business information solutions for British organizations of all sizes and sectors.

Certification ensures that the equipment or protective system is fit for its intended purpose and that adequate information is supplied with it to ensure that it can be used safely. There are four ATEX classification to ensure that a specific piece of equipment or protective system is appropriate and can be safely used in a particular application:

1. Industrial or Mining Application

2. Equipment Category

3. Atmosphere

4. Temperature

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is a classification society, with a mission to promote the security of life, property and the natural environment, primarily through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.

DNV GL is an international classification society, with main locations in Norway and Germany. DNV GL is the result of the 2013 merger between DNV (Stiftelsen Det Norske Veritas) and Germanischer Lloyd. The organization's history goes back to 1864, when the foundation was established in Norway to inspect and evaluate the technical condition of Norwegian merchant vessels.

A set of industrial standards developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry with the initial intent to replace oil company specifications and sere as references in the authorities’ regulations. There are many requirements within these standards covering a multitude of facets, the main ones we see being: “M-001” (Materials Selection), “M-501” (Surface Preparation & Protective Coating), “R-001” (Mechanical Equipment) and “M-650” (Qualification of Manufacturers of Special Materials).
